The mission of Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association (LISTA) is to educate, motivate and empower the Latino Community with technology and information to conquer the digital divide.
Welcome to LISTA Techno Centro, Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association's technology center where you can learn skills in information technology and gain access to a new world of information. With support from the LISTA National Foundation and our sponsors State Farm, Aetna, Coca-Cola, Turner Uno, US Census Bureau and Prudential the LISTA Center for Technological Excellence and Empowerment (Techno Centro) initiative was launched in October 14th 2008 in Norcross Ga. This initiative has provided Latinos in the Norcross Area a central information hub where the community can come and learn computing and understand current technological updates which affects their daily lives. LISTA Techno Centro is equipped with state-of-the-art computer equipment, software, and high speed Internet access in their community. So far the initiative has provided support to over 2500 people in Gwinnett area who are studying computers, English as a second language and coming soon GED Training. LISTA firmly believes that by empowering people with technological tools and skills we can advance their education, careers and quality of life.
LISTA Techno Centro is a vital step in this process, guaranteeing that a sustainable framework exists in our communities for increasing capacity among Hispanic, African American, and other traditionally under served minority students and families for the understanding and mastery of information sciences and technology, for improving student academic performance in math, sciences and expanding their awareness of required academic and social preparation needed for careers in IS&T. Also for bridging the growing digital divide separating minority and non-minority families in our communities. The Center is designed to build engagement and functionality in information sciences and technology across under served constituent groups in high-Hispanic density neighborhoods while developing the next generation of minority technology professionals and business owners.
